An accountability court on Saturday extended the physical remand of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders Khawaja Saad Rafique and his brother Khawaja Salman Rafique for another seven days in the Paragon City Housing scandal.
A NAB team produced the two brothers before the accountability court on the expiry of their remand. The anti-graft watchdog requested the court to extend the remand of the PML-N leaders, which was approved by the court.
The court ordered to again produce the accused on January 26.
Kh Saad and his brother Salman were arrested by NAB on Dec 11 in the Paragon Housing scandal.
A private TV channel reported that NAB has also launched investigation into ‘benami’ bank accounts of Kh Saad Rafique. The anti-graft body said the PML-N leader transferred billions of rupees from a bank account opened in the name of Khalid Hussain. A NAB report said more than Rs 6.20 billion were transferred into Khalid Hussain’s account by the Paragon Housing Society. It said more than Rs 96.9 million were transferred from accounts of builders of the housing project into a bank account in the name of Shamaa Nadeem. It said Rs 137.4 million were transferred into Razia Perveen’s account.
