ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah on Tuesday expressed ‘shock’ over Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announcing names of caretaker PM and CM nominees.
“I am shocked and disappointed to see the names of PTI nominees for the caretaker PM and caretaker CM all over the media. I had called upon the PTI leaders for a meeting, but they did not and now, there is no need to contact with PTI,” Khursheed Shah said while addressing a National Assembly session.
Khursheed added that it is the opposition leader and the prime minister’s responsibility to make a decision on the matter and that the government should finalise the caretaker setup before May 15.
On the other hand, PTI Spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry said that Khursheed’s statements are based on “newspaper reports” and that he is “surprised” to hear the opp leader utter such remarks.
Fawad added that party leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi was handed the duty to submit the nominees to Khursheed. “He (Khursheed) should have at least asked Shah Mehmood Qureshi before jumping onto a conclusion,” He added.
According to earlier reports, the PTI on Monday finalised three nominees for the caretaker prime minister and Punjab caretaker chief minister spot.
PTI chief Imran Khan met senior party leaders earlier today to hold discussions, after which the party finalised three nominees. Dr Abdul Razak Dawood, Tasdeeq Hussain and Dr Ishrat Hussain were nominated by the PTI.
