LAHORE: Speakers at a seminar on Monday stressed the need to promote a positive image of Pakistan. “Highlighting the real positive image of Pakistan is the need of the hour,” said Dr Samia Raheel Qazi while addressing a session at the Social Media Festival 2018, a two-day conference organised by the Centre for Sustainability, Research and Practice at the University of Lahore (UoL).
She said that Paigham-e-Pakistan shows unity of the nation and is all about the message of peace which needs to be promoted. “Paigham-e-Pakistan is a unanimous fatwa and joint deceleration against terrorism and a basic narrative which reflects unity and religious responsibility of the eminent scholars of all schools of thought in the country,” she said.
Other speakers on the occasion said that Paigham-e-Pakistan was a narrative to counter violence, extremism and terrorism. They also stressed the need to protect country’s ideological sovereignty in the age of information technology by understanding the dynamics of cyber-terrorism and identifying ways and means to counter those. “There is a need for the youth and professionals to start using social media efficiently and effectively by realising its potential,” they opined. The ceremony, held as part of Paigham-e-Pakistan initiative by the government of Pakistan, also shed light on the perception management.
