BAHAWALPUR: Regional Police Officer (RPO) Riffat Mukhtar Raja has directed the police officials not to use delaying tactics in the provision of justice. Listening to the problems of the complainants, Raja said that such officials, instead of decreasing, were increasing the problems of the public, so the police department “does not need such officials”, he clarified. Later, the RPO issued orders to DPO Bahawalnagar to personally hear the problems of complaints; Muhammad Irfan, Farman Ahmed and Mehwish and take action accordingly. The complaints of Shabir Ahmed, Muhammad Iqbal and Atta Muhammad were forwarded to SP Investigation Rahim Yar Khan. The complaints of residents of Bahawalpur Azhar Hussain and Nasreen were forwarded to DPO Bahawalpur.
Encounter: An alleged dacoit was shot dead in an encounter with police near Chak No 193 Murad Hasilpur, about 100 kilometres from Bahawalpur. A police spokesman claimed that Mumtaz alias Matti was wanted in a number of criminal cases. The body was shifted to the local hospital for an autopsy.
