ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Maiza Hameed said on Monday that the incumbent government and Women Parliamentary Caucus are taking appropriate steps for women empowerment in the country.
Talking to this scribe, she pointed out that women have equal opportunities in Pakistan under the current democratic setup. “Pakistan today consists of remarkable women who have done a great job in different fields like education, health and bureaucracy.”
She lauded the role played by women, led by Maryam Nawaz, in poverty alleviation and encouraged young women to break the shackles of misery and fear.
Giving examples, she said Malala Yousafzai fought against discrimination and became the youngest girl to receive Nobel Prize while life of first martyred woman pilot Marium Mukhtar can also be taken as guidance.
The MNA urged the educated segment of society to become torch-bearer of change and harbinger of common world with equal opportunities. Appreciating the role being played by women legislators in the parliament, she said women have taken the front seat in politics today and are working constructively towards and prosperous and tolerant Pakistan under the mentorship of Maryam Nawaz.
