Inspector General of Police Punjab, Inam Ghani said that on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi celebrations, security arrangements should be made in all the districts of the province for the security of sensitive processions and Milad-un-Nabi ceremonies using all available resources whereas RPOs, DPOs should themselves go into field to supervise the security arrangements and traffic management of Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) so that the people can participate in the celebrations without any fear or danger.
Three-layered security should be provided while the officers and personnel on duty should consider the face mask as part of the uniform to prevent corona. He further said that CCTV cameras, metal detectors and walk-through gates must be used for security of processions in sensitive districts and search, sweep, combing and intelligence-based operations in the vicinity of important mosques, shrines and religious place should be speeded up. He further said that while making security arrangements, effective suggestions of procession organizers, local scholars and civil society should also be taken into consideration and legal action against the perpetrators of fireworks and aerial firing should not be delayed at all. He further said that checking of all vehicles passing through intra provincial Check posts should be made stringent and footage of all vehicles should be archived so that it may be benefitted in the need of time.
He expressed these views at RPOs, DPOs video link instructing the officers during the conference. During the conference, Additional IG South Punjab Captain (Retd) Zafar Iqbal Awan, CCPO Lahore and all RPOs briefed IG Punjab about the security arrangements for Eid Milad-un-Nabi celebrations in their districts.
Giving a briefing during the conference, IG Punjab was informed that on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi, about 1100 gatherings and 2317 processions would be taken out across the province and for their security around 60,000 officers / officials and national volunteers would perform security duties. As many as 187 walk-through gates, 8344 metal detectors, 2654 CCTV cameras will also be used for the security of the rallies and processions held at the venues. Instructing the officers, IG Punjab said that the officers on security duty on Eid Milad-un-Nabi should be effectively briefed about the sensitivity of their duties so that they can perform their duties more diligently, dutifully and with high alertness.
Additional IG Operations Sahibzada Shehzad Sultan and Additional IG CTD Muhammad Tahir Rai and other officers were also present in the conference.
Seoarately, Inspector General of Police Punjab Inam Ghani said that Punjab Police has improved public service delivery for the convenience of citizens as per the requirements of modern policing as well as effective use of modern technology and effective crackdown on criminal elements through intelligence based operations for speeding up the eradication of anti-social elements. He further said that the training modules were being continuously upgraded to improve the training quality of the police force while the formation of specialized forces including Counter Terrorism Department, Special Protection Unit, Dolphin, Peru, Anti-Roit have enhanced the capacity of Punjab Police and helping in facing the challenges of the time. He further said that under Smart and Community Policing, millions of citizens have so far benefited from various police service centers in all the districts of the province while further improving the quality of services. The process of inspection and monitoring is also underway.
He expressed these views during a meeting with Officer Commanding Central Air Command, Pakistan Air Force, Zafar Aslam at Central Police Office here today. During the meeting, issues of mutual interest and enhancing professional cooperation and coordination were discussed. During the meeting, it was agreed to enhance information sharing and mutual cooperation.
Officer Commanding Central Air Command, Pakistan Air Force, Air Vice Marshel, Zafar Aslam while praising the ongoing efforts of Punjab Police for crime fighting and public service said that these public service delivery projects are in line with the needs of the time. At the end of the meeting, commemorative souvenirs were exchanged between IG Punjab and Air Vice Marshal Zafar Aslam.
