The Upper House of Parliament on Tuesday witnessed ruckus as the government and the entire opposition stood against each other over the promulgation of an ordinance through which the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) setup was dissolved.
After the recitation, the PML-N Senator Javed Abbasi pointed out that the government should explain wheatear the government was presenting the PMDC ordinance as required by the constitution. He pointed out that the as per rules, all the previous ordinances, which were promulgated before the Senate session should present in the House on first day. However, the government side was on the view as the Senate session has been summoned on the requisition by the opposition, therefore, the PMDC ordinance would be lay in proper time but not today.
PPP leader Mian Raza Rabbani said that ordinance should be promulgate in special critical situation. He also blamed that the PTI legal team mostly were Late Gen Ziaul Haq era, who always by pass the parliament. He suggested that parliament should find out solution of its problems otherwise someone else would take the advantage.
Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Azam Swati said that promulgating ordinances were sole prerogative of President of Pakistan. If the opposition want to change law, they were allowed to bring changes in the law. Leader of the House Shibly Faraz said that the House should discuss the Kashmir issue, which went on back burner after opposition Azadi March. The government would present the Ordinance in proper time but will not be presented today, he maintained.
While the JUI-F Senator Abdul Ghafoor Haidri was of the view that if the government was serious about Kashmir, it should call the Senate session earlier. Another PPP leader Sherry Rehman labelled President House as Ordinances making factory.
When both the government and opposition senators could not ready to listen to each other, the Deputy Chairman Senate Salem Mandviwalla suspended the session for 15 minutes and asked both ruling and opposition parties to sit and find amicable solution of the problem.
