The 64th birthday of former president and PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari was observed by the PPP Youth wing throughout Sindh. In this regard, huge demonstrations were held in various cities including Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana, etc.
On the occasion, General Secretary Shaoib Mirza, Spokesperson Taimoor Ali Maher, Iqbal Sand, Javed Nagori, Ayaz Baloch,Fareed Memon and a large number of PPP activists participated with fervor and zeal. The workers also demanded to release Asif Zardari on urgent basis.
Taimoor Ali Maher, while lauding the contribution of Asif Zardari for strengthening democracy, said that the PPP would never ever compromise on principles and the coward tactics of the present government must be exposed at every platform. He vowed to continue peaceful struggle for genuine democratic order in the country under the dynamic leadership of Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Zardari Bhutto. He claimed that the PPP had always taken steps for empowering vulnerable segments of the society.
The PPP activists, during the birthday ceremony, were of the view that Asif Ali Zardari suffered a lot for democracy and had always struggled for the rights of the people of Pakistan. “Zardari restored 1973 Constitution in its original form and strengthened the Parliament,” said Taimoor Ali Maher. On the occasion, a large number of participants also chanted slogans demanding to free Asif Zardari and to criticize the federal government. Today, every single member of our party at district level is protesting against the government revenge operations across Sindh, including Karachi.
Meanwhiel, Secretary General of Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians and former Senator Farhatullah Babar said that Asif Ali Zardari was imprisoned for more than 11 years without any fault and history was repeating itself yet again.
“Party workers are determined to celebrate his birthday because he is a leader who never bowed before anyone and still remains steadfast for the cause of democracy.”
He was speaking to the party workers and media persons at the Central Secretariat Islamabad. He said that there is no political party in the world which has given so many sacrifices for democracy. He said political victimisation in the garb of accountability was nothing but tyranny. Amir Fida Paracha the spokesman to former President, Naveed Chaudhary, Sibte Haider Bukhari, Capt. (R) Wasif Syed and a large number of local leaders and workers were present on the occasion.
