Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Friday said that strict action would be taken against hoarders and profiteers to keep the prices of the daily use items stable.
In a statement, Buzdar said that the provincial government had decided to start crackdown on elements creating artificial price hike in the province. He issued directives to the Cabinet Committee for Price Control in this regard.
The Punjab chief minister also ordered the departments concerned to take measures for stability of prices of essential commodities.
“Hike in prices of essential items will not be tolerable and elements involved in artificial price hike have to face dire consequences,” he warned. Buzdar said that all-out efforts would be made for provision of essential items to the masses.
The chief minister also directed the authorities concerned to accelerate crackdown on profiteers and hoarders.
Meanwhile, Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi held a meeting with Buzdar at his assembly chamber.
Both the leaders discussed various matters of mutual interest, including public welfare schemes and further improving the working relationship, and agreed that they would continue to work jointly for the welfare and prosperity of the people of the province.
Speaking on the occasion, Buzdar said that the opposition was facing disintegration.
He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan was committed to saving the country from the menace of corruption.
He clarified that the opposition’s “drama won’t work now and we will jointly continue serving the masses”.
Elahi said that the people had been deceived in the name of development during the previous government’s tenure, adding that jugglery of fake Khadim-e-Aala had been exposed before the people.
