Justice Mohammad Farrukh Irfan Khan of the Lahore High Court (LHC) has tendered his resignation, sources said Tuesday.
Justice Farrukh Irfan has sent his resignation from the office to the President, sources said. Justice Farrukh Irfan Khan was facing a reference after his name surfaced on the list of those having offshore properties abroad. He was also issued a show-cause notice by the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) in February 2017.
As the five-judge SJC, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Asif Saeed Khosa, resumed the proceedings of the reference on Tuesday, the court was informed that Justice Farrukh Irfan has tendered resignation from office.
The SJC ended the misconduct reference proceedings against the high court judge after the court was reported about that the judge has stepped down from his office. Justice Farrukh Irfan in an application submitted to the SJC through his lawyer in February said that defence witnesses could not travel to Pakistan in view of tensions between Pakistan and India.
