The Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry has demanded that The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) be ordered to stop raiding registered business premises immediately and put an end to harassing the business community.
While addressing the members at the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) on Saturday the FBR Chairman Dr Jahanzeb Khan announced, “We will not (conduct) raid”.
It is important to note that the FBR had only initiated the raids following failure by many businessmen to file their tax returns before the given deadline.
It is important to note that the FBR Chairman had extended the deadline till March 31 for tax return filing and had requested businessmen to respond to the notice on time. To facilitate communication between the business community and FBR the Chairman announced the constitution of a liaison committee.
