Famous Sindhi academic, Javed Bhutto, was shot dead outside his house in Washington DC, US, on Saturday.
While no official report has surfaced yet, information on social media suggests he was murdered by an alcoholic criminal who was upset at being reported to authorities for dealing drugs. His death has sparked an outrage on social media where people are mourning the loss of an exemplary intellectual and demanding the US government take action against the culprit.
Originally from Shikarpur, Sindh, Bhutto served as the head of Philosophy Department at Sindh University, before moving to the US. He was the husband of renowned journalist Nafisa Hoodbhoy.
