Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday filed a bail petition on the basis of his medical report in the Lahore High Court.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader filed the plea through his counsels Azam Nazir Tarar and Amjad Pervez. “Since I am under treatment and my health condition is not good, therefore the court should release me on bail,” he pleaded to the court.
Shehbaz said the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had made the case against him on political grounds and in violation of the law. The petition has made the federal government and the anti-graft body a party in the case.
LHC refuses to hear appeal seeking right of review plea for Nawaz
The NAB had arrested Shehbaz Sharif on October 5 last year under corruption charges in Ashiana Housing scandal. Sharif is also facing pending inquiries regarding Ramzan Sugar Mills and assets beyond means. agencies
Meanwhile, A two-judge bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) excused itself on Tuesday from hearing an appeal seeking the right of review petition for former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in Panama Papers case.
According to details, the LHC bench, comprising Justice Shahid Kareem and Justice Abid Aziz Shaikh, refused to take up a plea requesting to grant the right of filing a review against the verdict in Panama case against Nawaz Sharif.
