ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry stated on Wednesday that he was surprised on Khursheed Shah’s claim that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) suggested Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to nominate Aitzaz Ahsan for the slot of President of Pakistan.
The information minister Tweeted, “Surprised on Khursheed Shah Statement, PTI Candidate Arif Alvi is winning hands down so Aitzaz sb should be requested to withdraw from the Presidential race.”

According to Shah, the PTI’s Fawad Chaudhry had approached PPP for fielding a mutual candidate for presidential elections.
“Chaudhry tabled name of Aitzaz Ahsan as a mutual presidential candidate but we named Asif Ali Zardari (the party’s co-chairman), he added.
PPP leader further said that in the meeting, Chaudhry said that “Shah jee, we should field a mutual candidate for the presidential election.”
After which, PPP leaders proposed the name of former president Asif Ali Zardari which was immediately turned down by PTI leader.
Fawad was then asked to name the candidate of her choice and the PTI spokesperson came up with the name of senior lawyer Aitzaz Ahsan, which Shah had accepted, the PPP leader claimed.
Shah accused that PTI did not make any further contacts and picked Arif Alvi as their presidential candidate.
