KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Convener Farooq Sattar on Sunday said that he would prefer to die than to join Mustafa Kamal’s Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP).
“I will continue to serve MQM-P till death. Political loyalties of those who have spent 38 years of their lives for political struggle are being made to change. I would prefer to die than to change loyalties and join PSP or any other party,” Farooq Sattar said while speaking to the media in Karachi.
Sattar claimed that “some elements” were trying to stir propaganda against him that he is the one sending MQM-P leaders to PSP. “Shabbir Ahmed Qaimkhani left the party because he opposed my decision to not challenge the institutions and after him, few others left. This shows that some elements are trying to split MQM-P,” he added.
He also claimed that the MQM-P leaders are receiving death threats and for that reason, he said, he wants to meet the Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar. Moreover, Sattar questioned that why is such a rhetoric being promoted that MQM-P wants to merge with PSP? “I can not put the dignity of the party at stake,” he added.
