BAHAWALPUR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Sunday Pakistan’s future would be decided in Panama leaks case.
Addressing a mammoth public gathering in Bahawalpur’s Hockey Ground, Kaptaan said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had become an ‘expert’ in corruption over the past 30 years.
The skipper said Nawaz Sharif’s corruption would have never been revealed if it was not for the efforts of people behind Panama Papers.
He said that PTI’s sit-in in Islamabad in 2014 gave the nation a perspective. He vowed to put alleged corrupt leaders of the country behind bars after coming in power in General Elections 2018.
He said that Nawaz Sharif bought Mayfair flats in London in Maryam Safdar’s name using funds that were pocketed through corruption. Kaptaan said emails that hold great importance in Panama Leaks case show the names of Sharif family’s names.
The PTI chief said that 2017 is not the year of elections but a year to complete developmental projects.
He said that opposition parties could have struggled for over 200 years in vain to prove the Sharif family’s corruption but Panama Leaks made the task possible.
Khan criticised Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif by recalling his alleged statement over Panama Leaks that it was not an issue of the Pakistanis.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman said that Fazlur Rehman, chief of his own faction of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), was an agent of Nawaz Sharif. He instructed the PTI workers to be ready to take to the streets.
Chaos ensued at the PTI rally when fans and supporters ran amok, breaking the boundaries in an attempt to have a glimpse of the skipper.
Numerous people are rumoured to be injured, according to sources.
He went on to say, “We need to decide if this small gang continues to rule this country and plunders and conceals money abroad.”
The PTI supremo said that a day will come when truth will be unveiled against those involved in the corruption, hinting at the ongoing hearing in the Supreme Court (SC) in connection with the Panamagate case.
He raised a question that how Maryam Safdar acquired property worth billions of rupees abroad.
“Nawaz Sharif is facing the wrath of God following the Panama Papers leaks,” he said.
“While metro buses are being introduced, people of South Punjab are still the ones deprived of such services,” Imran said, adding, “Punjab’s 57 per cent budget is being spent on development projects.”
