ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ambassador to Tehran Asif Durrani has said that a delegation from Islamabad is soon to visit Iran. The delegation aims towards enhancing cooperation, buying more electricity from Iran, Asif Durrani maintained.
In a meeting with Managing Director of Iran Power and Water Company (Sunir) Bahman Salehi, Durrani said that the Gwadar’s region in Pakistan is in dire need for more electricity.
He said that Sunir has permission from Iran Power Generation and Transmission Company to transfer 400 megawatts electricity to Pakistan and is ready to build the transmission line.
He said that Sunir possesses the capability to increase electricity export capacities to 5,000 megawatts. Pakistan’s Minister of Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif, while talking to the press, said that Iran is the best choice for Pakistan to import electricity, gas and oil.
