The Lahore High Court sought reply from the federal government on the petition filed against the appointment of President National Bank of Pakistan. The court also issued notices to President National Bank Arif Usman to present his position in person or through a lawyer. Justice Jawad Hassan heard the public interest petition of Citizen Naeemullah Afridi. During the hearing, the court ruled that the petition was filed after one year and five months of appointment in prima facie. How did the petition become admissible in prima facie? The court said that he was appointed for Karachi, the jurisdiction of this court is limited, how can this court intervene in this matter, it is better that the petitioner should approach the Islamabad High Court. The court directed the counsel for the petitioner to give arguments on the admissibility of the petition. The counsel for the petitioner told the court that it was necessary for the President National Bank to have a master’s degree in finance and accounts while the President National Bank Arif Usman Do not meet the qualifications, the President of the National Bank only holds a bachelor’s degree in physics. Petitioner’s counsel requested the court to quash the appointment of the President of the National Bank of Pakistan and order the court to appoint the new President of the National Bank in accordance with the rules and regulations.
