The novel coronavirus outbreak has had a significant impact on the economy of Pakistan. According to international monetary bodies and local experts the country was expected to face economic losses worth trillions with government estimates suggesting around three million jobs to be lost during these pressing times. In light of these developments, the State Bank of Pakistan came up with the Rozgar Scheme, an initiative for providing job security and protection to the salaried segment of the population. The Rozgar Scheme helped businesses, especially SMEs, pay wages and salaries to their employees and hence supported continued employment assistance during this challenging environment.
