Islamabad High Court (IHC) has remarked the properties of overseas Pakistanis are being occupied illegally in Pakistan, therefore the court should be told Pakistan Overseas Foundation (POF) has done what for overseas Pakistanis. These remarks were given by the court during hearing of case of illegal occupation of land of a woman from overseas Pakistanis by a housing society in Pakistan. The court has called written report from overseas ministry on the mechanism for redressing grievances of overseas Pakistanis Chief Justice IHC took up the case for hearing Wednesday. Counsel for OF told the court complaint cell was set up for overseas Pakistanis in 2001. Chief Justice remarked ” your complaint cell is not functioning. Had the complaint cell been functional you would have then contacted this affected lady. You don’t go to redress the grievances of overseas Pakistanis. Your entire system is fraud. The defense counsel told the court our focal persons are working in 19 countries to address the complaints of overseas Pakistanis. The court inquired has any one among your focal persons contacted this applicant. Fraud is being committed with overseas Pakistanis. Had the mechanism been operational then this would not have happened so. You are having the applications of how many Pakistanis. If you don’t have list of affected persons then it means overseas Foundation is not functioning. This is not issue of one woman but it is issue of all Pakistanis working abroad. Is not responsibility of state to redress the grievances of overseas Pakistanis. The overseas Pakistanis are in trouble and state is doing nothing.
