In a statement, Durrani said Qureshi, who is also senior vice-chairman of PTI, has not only expressed no-confidence over Prime Minister Imran Khan and his strategy to deal with coronavirus threat but also negated the televised speeches to the nation Imran Khan has been making over the last few weeks. “Masses are asking who should be followed, Prime Minister or Shah Mehmood Qureshi, in this troubled time, as one is for and the other is against the lockdown,” he said, adding that the prime minister should at least keep his ‘kitchen cabinet’ from making statements contradictory to government’s stated policy in order to prevent spreading confusion among the masses.
Durrani said the situation shows prime minister Imran Khan has not even taken his cabinet into confidence over his strategy to counter the spread of coronavirus. He said display of consensus and unity among entire nation is the need of the hour to effectively overcome the crises. “But the Prime Minister has badly failed in showing any sincerity in opening his arms for the opposition parties,” he added.
Durrani said Pakistanis know very well that the government lacks resources and expertise to deal with the global calamity but the Prime Minister must realize that displaying sincerity and will to lead the nation does not require any material resources.
