The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Core Committee on Saturday rejected all what they said unconstitutional demands of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), including the prime minister’s resignation and re-elections in the country.
The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan to discuss the prevailing political situation in the wake of JUI-F’s Azadi March in the federal capital.
The meeting strongly condemned statements against the institutions by Fazlur Rehman and decided not to tolerate any such remarks by the opposition leaders. The meeting noted that Pakistan’s image is improving due to sacrifices of the institutions and the people of the country.
Reports said the core committee also rejected demand of re-elections in the country. The members noted that the opposition was allowed to hold protest in the federal capital by accepting their constitutional right. The committee decided that the government will take action if marchers breach the agreement.
Defence Minister Pervaiz Khattak, head of government’s negotiation committee, briefed the meeting about contacts and talks with the opposition.
Interior Minister Ejaz Shah said the government will not let protestors affect rights of the citizens of the federal capital.
PM Imran advised the Khattak-led committee to continue negotiating with the Rahbar Committee and advised them to not get blackmailed by the protesters. He added that negotiations should not happen if there are attempts to blackmail the government. Reports said that PM Imran instructed the interior ministry to be prepared for any untoward incident.
