SHIKARPUR: Two policemen including a Station Head Officer (SHO) were martyred on Sunday and three sustained bullet wounds in an encounter against dacoits in Shah Belo area, Shikarpur, a private channel reported.
According to details, the encounter took place in the limits of Lakhi Ghulam Shah Police Station, Shah Belo area, resulting in martyrdom of Station House Officer Ghulam Murtaza Mirani and Assistant Sub Inspector Zulfikar Panhwar.
A huge contingent of police was called and the area was cordoned off due to the encounter. The injured policemen were identified as ASI Jehanzeb, Saddam Dayo and Rasool Bux Lohar.
On February 12, 2019, five police personnel were martyred in a firing incident over a police van at Indus highway, in the limits of Tehsil proa, DI Khan.
As per details, unknown assailants had opened fire over the police van at the Indus Highway, resulting in martyrdom of three personnel on the spot, while two got injured.
The injured were moved to the District Headquarter hospital Dera Ismail Khan, where they succumbed to their bullet wounds.
The martyred policemen were identified as, SHO Tahir Nawaz, DFC Mir Baz, driver, Javed and two constables namely Asif and Sarfaraz. Police told that armoured vehicles and 200 police officials were taking part in the police operation.
The hiding places of dacoits are being razed to the ground, police said, adding that houses in the area are being searched as well.
