The Election Commission of Pakistan has started the process of receiving nomination papers from candidates in tribal districts for the election on 16 seats of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. According to the election schedule, the candidates can submit their nomination papers with the returning officers until tomorrow (Saturday), while scrutiny of the nomination papers will be held by May 18.
The ECP stated that appeals against decisions of the returning officers regarding acceptance or rejection of the nomination papers can be filed by May 22. It said the candidates can withdraw their nomination papers by May 29, while the revised list of candidates will be published on the same day. According to the ECP, election symbols will be allotted to the contesting candidates on May 30, while polling will be held on July 2.
