Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), on Friday, continued for the second day in a row receiving nomination papers from the candidates for elections on 16 seats of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly in tribal districts.
According to the schedule released by the ECP, the candidates can submit their nomination papers with the returning officers till Saturday.
Scrutiny of the nomination papers would be held by May 18. Appeals against acceptance or rejection of the nomination papers by the returning officers can be filed by May 22.
Candidates would be able to withdraw their nomination papers by May 29. The ECP would publish the revised list of candidates on the same day.
Election symbol would be allotted to the contesting candidates on May 30.
Polling would be held in the tribal districts on July 2. The election commission has directed that no posting or transfer of an officer would be made in the tribal districts till the publication of names of returned candidates.
It may be pertinent to mention here that this will be the first ever elections of provincial assembly held in tribal areas after its merger with KP province. The polls are expected to help the tribal people resolve their problems at the provincial level.
Muttahida Qabail Party’s (MQP) Habib Malik Aurakza and Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Shaban Ali have submitted nomination papers for PK-110.
