The Sindh cabinet has approved the provincial government’s COVID-19 Emergency Relief Ordinance, 2020. Briefing the journalists after the cabinet meeting on Monday, Sindh Minister for Information, Local Government, Housing &Town Planning, Religious Affairs, Forest and Wildlife Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that the ordinance will now be sent to the Sindh Governor. Elaborating on the ordinance, the provincial information minister said that after the enactment of the ordinance, employees working in the private sector could not be fired. On the other hand, under this ordinance, payment of salaries to these employees had also been secured, he added. He said that the owners would also benefited by giving some deductions under this ordinance.
Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that water, electricity and gas bills had also been reduced under this ordinance. He said that the tenants who live in rented houses had also been given rent concessions under this ordinance. The provincial information minister said that under the ordinance, there would be a concession of 20 percent in school fees.
Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has said that the cabinet was briefed in detail about the spread of Coronavirus in the province.
