A joint investigation team (JIT) has been notified to interrogate the five arrested suspects involved in the Chinese consulate attack and submit a report within two weeks. At least four persons including two policemen were killed in a terrorist attack at the Chinese consulate in Karachi in November last year. According to a notification, the JIT will be headed by senior superintendent of police (SSP) from the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD). “The JIT comprises members of the intelligence agencies, Rangers, CTD and the officers of the Special Branch,” the notification reads. The team has been tasked to submit its report within 15 days. At least three suicide attackers tried to storm the Chinese consulate in Karachi on November 23 but were killed before they could get into the building.
