ISLAMABAD: PML-N wrote a letter to the chief election commissioner requesting the extension of polling time by an hour but the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has denied the request.
The letter was penned by PML-N senator Mushahid Hussain Syed and he argued that there are long cues on polling station and only 4 people can go inside to cast their vote at a time and that there have been nationwide complaints about the time constraint.
Under the Election Act of 2017, section 17, the Election Commission could have extended the fixed polling hours.
The polling hours of election day remain from 8AM to 6PM.
