Captain (r) Safdar, the son in law of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was shifted to Adiala Jail amid strict security on Monday.
A National Accountability Bureau (NAB) team produced the convict before the accountability court’s judge Muhammad Bashir.
Strict security measures were in place outside the Federal Judicial Complex in G-11 sector of Islamabad, where the accountability court is situated.
Meanwhile, a case was registered against Safdar along with 15 other PML-N leaders for violating the Punjab Regulation and Control of Loudspeakers and Sound Amplifiers Ordinance 1965.
The case was registered at the Waris Khan Police Station under Sections 149, 147, 188, 341, and 3/7 of the Amplifier Act.
Among those accused are two PML-N candidates contesting upcoming elections for provincial assembly seats, while one of the accused leaders is contesting the polls from a National Assembly constituency.
PML-N leaders Chaudhry Tanveer, Daniyal Chaudhry, Raja Haneef, Sheikh Arsalan, and Ziaullah Shah have been named in the petition along with hundreds of unidentified persons.
Safdar, who was absconding after the Avenfield Properties corruption reference verdict, was arrested after he appeared at a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) rally in Rawalpindi.
Earlier in the day, sources within the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) told a private TV channel that the anti-graft body had identified those who had protected Captain (f) Safdar before he was arrested.
According to a video footage obtained by NAB, Senator Chaudhry Tanveer, Shakeel Awaz, and Malik Abrar can be seen in the recording.
On Sunday, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) took Safdar into custody after he appeared at a PML-N rally in Rawalpindi.
