ISLAMABAD: The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) has summoned all the chief executive officers (CEO) of all Pakistani airlines to the Supreme Court’s Karachi Registry on May 12.
CJP summoned the CEOs while hearing a sou moto notice related to fake degrees possessed by airline employees.
A Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) director told the court that Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi owns Air Blue company, in response to this, CJ remarked that he will be summoned to the court but in his private capacity not as the prime minister of Pakistan.
Moreover, CJP observed that in the next hearing the CEOs has to answer the previous submission of incomplete data of the airlines.
In response to this, CAA officials told the court that only Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Shaheen Airlines have submitted the required data.
CAA director also added that court had ordered to verify the data of 1,972 employees of PIA, the data of 225 employees have been examined, and out of which 108 degrees stand verified.
It was brought to court’s notice that 24 pilots’ degrees have proven fake.
On the matter of fake degrees of lawyers, CJ remarked while addressing senior counsel Hamid Khan to varify Lawyer’s degrees as well.
Khan suggested to the court that bar associations should be issued an order in this regard.
