ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Thursday that he would hold a press conference at the Punjab House today (Thursday).
He is expected to react to a recent National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) probe on money laundering against him.
While interacting with reporters outside the accountability court hearing corruption cases against him, Nawaz appreciated Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s remarks on the NAB’s decision to launch an investigation.
On Tuesday, NAB filed an inquiry against Nawaz Sharif for allegedly laundering 4.9 billion US dollars to India. The NAB statement reads that the Chairman took notice of media reports which made these claims on the basis of a World Bank report published in 2016.
However, the World Bank said that its report neither mentions individuals nor does it highlight money laundering cases.
Nawaz also asserted that the time had come to choose between laws made by dictators and laws made by civilian governments.
