LAHORE: To recognize the support of corporate organizations during the year 2017, Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Center (SKMCH&RC) arranged its annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) awards at a local hotel in Lahore. The event was attended by representative of more than 100 corporate organizations whereas Imran Khan, Chairman, Board of Governors, Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust was the chief guest at the ceremony.
While talking to donors and supporters of the hospital at the occasion, Imran Khan said, SKMCH&RC is the only charitable institute which has gained trust of even more philanthropists, individual and corporate organizations with every passing year.
He said, at the beginning it was difficult and we faced lot of challenges but with the unlimited support of our people not only SKMCH&RC Lahore has been successfully working since last 23 years but SKMCH&RC Peshawar has also completed its two years of public service. Besides these two projects, construction of SKMCH&RC in Karachi will also be started this year. Imran stated that Pakistani nation stands 5th in giving charity and donations for public benefit.
The hospital that was built in 1994 at the cost of Rs. 700 million is now spending 6 billion to provide free of cost cancer treatment facilities to poor cancer patients. Thanking the donors, Imran Khan said this hospital was built by the people like you and I hope that you will continue this support in future as well.
Associate Director Marketing, SKMCH&RC, Naila Khan gave a briefing about the hospital’s progress during 2017 and current and future plans of the hospital. In the end, Imran Khan distributed the Shaukat Khanum Social Responsibility Award among the hospital’s supporters for their never ending support.
Representatives of the corporate sector appreciated SKMCH&RC for providing state-of-the-art treatment facilities to poor cancer patients and assured the hospital of their support in future as well.
