London: Holding signs of “Go home Modi” and “we stand against Modi’s agenda of hate and greed”, hundreds of protestors took to the streets of London to protest Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s arrival in London.
The demonstration showcased Britain’s diversity, as both Muslims and Sikhs protested religious prosecution in India, while human rights activists clamoured for a call to end violence against women.
A large contingent of Kashmiris held up flags, while others displayed the picture of an 8-year old Muslim girl who was raped and murdered earlier this year.
The incident involving the Muslim girl once again highlighted the insecurity women and children feel in India.
“The Indian government is doing nothing, and you feel sorry for the families because of the total injustice of it all,” said Navindra Singh, an Indian-born lawyer who lives in Britain.
“He has been in power for four years now and there has been no policy change to help protect women and children.”
