MULTAN: A provincial court issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Mufti Abdul Qavi in the Qandeel Baloch murder case on Thursday.
The Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Pervez directed non-bailable warrants to be issued after Noor Akbar, the investigation officer had asked the court to issue warrants because the controversial cleric was not cooperating with the police in carrying out investigations in the matter.
When Mufti Abdul Qavi was asked to comment on this matter he stated that he is readily available and always present at his seminary for any cooperation adding that he had obtained interim bail and hence could not be taken into custody.
Mufti Abdul Qavi who got suspended from Ruet-e-Hilal Committee membership after selfies with Qandeel Baloch said the murder of the model is lesson for others.
Qandeel Baloch has been murdered allegedly by her own brother in Green Town, the outskirt of Multan, The murder took place when Qandeel was sleeping at her house in Muzaffargarh, her parents had said in a statement.
Qandeel Baloch had earlier claimed she was receiving death threats and had sought security. However, following “no response” from the interior ministry on her application for getting personal security, social media starlet Qandeel Baloch was planning to settle down abroad after Eidul Fitr, citing security threats in the backdrop of her recent scandal with Mufti Abdul Qawi as the reason.
