Lahore/Islamabad: Protesters at demonstrations staged all over the country on Friday by the Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) to express solidarity with Myanmars Rohingya Muslims and to demand that Pakistan cut all diplomatic ties with Myanmar. Meanwhile, the leadership of the PUC, along with coordination of the Ilm-o-Aman Foundation also announced that they will be hosting and bearing expenditures of 10,000 Rohingya Muslims if the Pakistani government allowed Rohingya Muslims to enter the country.
Office-bearers of the PUC from different districts of the country addressed these rallies and protests demonstrations in their respective districts and divisions. The speakers addressing the rallies stressed that Muslim and non-Muslim world leaders have been demonstrating criminal negligence over the prevailing genocide of Rohingya Muslims, and that Myanmar’s Buddhist forces had endangered interfaith harmony all over the world. The speakers also demanded that the international Buddhist community denounce the genocide of Muslims in Myanmar.
While addressing a protest demonstration here at Jamia Ashrafia, Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, Chairman of the PUC, Lahore stated that Muslim countries and international leaders should play an effective role to help the Rohingya Muslims. All the human rights organizations of the world, UNO, European Union and OIC have been demonstrating criminal silence on the ongoing genocide being conducted by Myanmar’s Buddhist extremists.
Ashrafi also urged the government of Pakistan to coordinate efforts with the Chinese government in bringing an end to the suffering of Rohingya Muslims as the Chinese can play very crucial role in helping the Rohingya. He also demanded that the Saudi King Shah Salman bin Abdul Aziz call a meeting with the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) and the organization adopt a unanimous stance for Myanmar’s Muslims. The PUC will also hold a meeting of representatives from different religions on 10th September to show solidarity with the Rohingya people.
