LAHORE: On Wednesday during a raid at night Punjab Food Authority impounded more than a million rotten eggs from a factory in Lahore’s Mangal Mandi
According to Director-General PFA Noorul Ameen Mengal, the eggs worth Rs15 million were requisited from an eggs processing unit of a known biscuit company. The eggs were illegally being used to prepare powder.
Earlier this year, PFA wasted 800 litres of milk contaminated with toxic chemicals in Faisalabad.
PFA officials examined 40 containers of milk in Faisalabad and bound it to be adulterated with formalin – a chemical used chiefly as a preservative for biological specimens as well as urea, salt and water.
The food authority disposed off 800 litres of substandard milk and arrested two persons in connection with it.
