ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office Spokesperson Nafees Zakaria on Thursday said that the International Court of Justice (ICJ) has no jurisdiction to hear the case of Indian RAW agent Kulbushan Jadhav as it pertains to the security of Pakistan.
“Pakistan’s reply to the ICJ was submitted in line with Article 36 of the United Nations Charter, explaining that Pakistan, in some issues, does not recognise the jurisdiction of the ICJ,” he said during a weekly news briefing in Islamabad.
Nafees Zakaria said, “India weaved a humanitarian angle in Kulbushan Jadhav’s case to divert the world’s attention from his real actions, fomenting terrorism inside Pakistan. After India stood exposed in state-sponsored terrorism and financing terrorism, it tried to divert attention from presenting the Kulbushan Jadhav case with a humanitarian angle.”
He also said, “Pakistan’s stance on the RAW agent is very clear. It is a matter of national security and we will not compromise on it.”
Responding to a question, he said, “India’s fastest growing nuclear programme in the world has serious implications for strategic stability in South Asia and national security of Pakistan.”
He said, “Pakistan has been underscoring the risk of diversion by India to imported nuclear fuel, equipment and technology received pursuant to civil nuclear accord and 2008 energy waiver by Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG).”
The Spokesperson urged NSG members to consider risks involved in transfer of nuclear material to India and its NSG membership bid.
In response to a question, he said, “India’s move requiring Advisor on Foreign Affairs of Pakistan to write a recommendatory letter to Indian External Affairs Minister for every medical visa case is unprecedented in inter-state relations.”
Giving an update on the situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir(IOK), the Spokesperson said, “Human right situation in IOK is deteriorating. Hindu terrorist outfit, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has been stationing its activists and establishing its units in Occupied Kashmir, managed by non-Kashmiri RSS activists.”
He said, “RSS had slaughtered more than half a million Kashmiri Muslims in November 1947 together with Dogra and Indian occupation forces. He said their increasing presence in IOK is to terrorise Kashmiris and deter them from participating in the self-determination movement.”
He said, “Young Kashmiris, particularly the students are the target of occupation forces and RSS. Over 200 people including students were arrested while 500 people including boys and girl students were injured when Indian occupation forces subjected defenseless Kashmiris to brute force against protesting students in Srinagar, Ganderbal, Budgam, Kulgam, Baramulla, Kupwara, Pulwama and Shopian, districts.”
Nafees Zakaria said, “At least eight people were killed by Indian occupation forces in shoot out in a in IOK.”
“We condemn killing the of Kashmiris. Unable to control the popular uprising with even a million occupation forces, India is desperately trying to discredit the indigenous Kashmiri movement by portraying it through propaganda as terrorism which the International Community has vehemently rejected,” he said.
The Spokesman further said, “The Indian occupation forces have been condemned by the civil society members globally for banning social media. They have also banned 34 TV Channels including Arabic and Urdu News Channels in IOK.”
Moreover, he said, “Continued illegal detention of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leader Masarat Alam Bhat, detention of Aasiya Andrabi, whose health is reportedly increasingly deteriorating and Fehmeeda Sofi, who were booked under the Lawless Law, Public Safety Act, and continued house detention of APHC Hurriyat Leaders Syed Ali Gilani and Shabbir Ahmad Shah is highly deplorable.”
Nafees Zakaria said, “On May 17, the unlawful authorities put Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest to prevent them from addressing the seminar in connection with the Martyrdom Week to pay homage to prominent martyred Hurriyet leaders (Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq and Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone and martyrs of Hawal Srinagar). He said that APHC Conference Leader Syed Ali Gilani was not allowed to see his doctors which is highly regrettable.”
The Foreign Office Spokesman said, “In line with its policy of extending moral, diplomatic and political support to Kashmiris, Pakistan has sent a letter from the Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz to the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres to apprise the latter on India plans of changing the demography in IOK and to seek the UN intervention.”
Similarly, the Spokesman said, “On foreign relations front, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has paid a highly successful visit to China for participation in the Road and Belt Forum during the current week.”
The Spokesman said, “On the sidelines, the PM met a number of Countries leaders including the leadership of China, Turkey, Belarus, Ethiopia and interacted with many others including the Russian President.”
He told a questioner that, “Joint survey of some villages on Pak-Afghan border has been completed and a decision about reopening of the border would be taken on the basis of its outcome.”
