LAHORE: Families crammed at the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre to participate in the hospital’s second annual family festival ‘Fitness Fiesta’ on Tuesday.
This year’s event was also a huge success for the hospital, with a huge participation from people belonging to all walks of life. The resounding success shows the public growing awareness of a healthy lifestyle as well as the commitment to the hospital’s cause. Visitors enjoyed activities set out for the daylong event, especially the food stalls by Khalis Food Market.
Besides, cricket and football tournaments, badminton and table tennis matches were also played to highlight importance of sports for a healthy way of life. Free health and fitness consultations were also offered to visitors, allowing them to check their body mass index (BMI), blood pressure, sugar level and nutritional consultations. People also participated in Walkathon and enjoyed the few steps towards a healthy lifestyle.
People took keen interest in locally grown fresh produce, dairy products; fitness corner with activities including boot camp, pro-fit, and yoga sessions for people of all age groups.
Speaking on the occasion, SKMCH chief executive officer Dr Faisal Sultan said, “Activities like this festival where one can learn about healthy lifestyle are very important for our busy lives, as we seldom give attention to ourselves.”
