The University of Gujrat (UoG) targets to plant 1000 tree saplings before August 14 as it launched a tree-planting campaign at Hafiz Hayat Campus on Tuesday.
The campaign is a part of ‘Green Pakistan’, the countrywide tree sapling plantation during the moon soon season for a greener, cleaner Pakistan. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Shabbar Atiq inaugurated the campaign by planting a sapling at the campus. Directorate of Administration & Coordination (A&C), the organisers of the campaign, said they targeted 1000 plantations by August 14. “Plantation and protection of trees is a shared responsibility. It is one the best contributions to our motherland, something akin to a self-perpetuating good deed,” Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Shabbar Atiq said after inaugurating the campaign. He spoke about the vital role students could play in the Green Pakistan initiative, saying they need to spread awareness among the masses about the benefits of planting more trees.
UoG deans, directors, HoDs, senior administration officials and other staff were present on the occasion. The participants each planted saplings at the campus.
