A two-member bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) that was hearing Chaudhry Shujaat and Pervaiz Elahi’s petition has been dissolved, as one of the judges of the bench, Justice Farooq Hyder, refused to be part of the bench.
The LHC chief justice has formed a new two-member bench headed by Justice Shahbaz Ali Rizvi.
On the last hearing of the case, President LHC bar Tahir Nasar Ullah Warraich had pointed fingers on Justice Farooq Hyder hearing the petition of the Chaudhry brothers saying that Justice Farooq Hyder many times represented Chaudhry brothers in the different cases of them.
He insisted the judge not to be part of the bench, after which Justice Farooq Hyder refused to hear the case.
Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar has said that inquiry commission investigating sugar crisis should summon him instead of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
In a tweet, Asad Umar said “Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has demanded that I and Prime Minister Imran Khan should be summoned by sugar inquiry commission”.
He added that the decision was taken by the cabinet on the recommendation of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), so he should be summoned to answer the commission’s questions instead of Prime Minister.
