Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) office on Thursday said it has neither supported any particular proposed project structure nor has approved or blocked any project structure related to North-South Gas Pipeline project. The AGP, while explaining the factual position, said that the Petroleum Division had requested it to solicit opinion from two reputable international law firms on possibility of sanctions on proposed project structures concerning the project. The AGP solicited opinion from two reputed international law firms in terms of sanctions. The firms, while voicing concerns over the first project, opined that the other project is reasonably sound. The AGP office further said that these opinions were conveyed to the Ministry of Energy, Petroleum Division without expressing any further views of its own. The AGP office said that it has been wrongly reported in media that it has cleared two structures for the North-South Gas Pipeline project. It said the media report has raised storm in cup of tea that the clearance given by AGP will further blow up confusion, making the situation a web of complications and complexities.
