The administration of federal capital has decided to increase the rates of open spaces, weekly subsidised bazaars and trade licences.
According to details there is a 300% increase in trade licences of Category A, 100 % increase in Category B, 200% increase in open spaces where as 250% monthly increase in the weekly bazaars is suggested in revised list. The summary of revise list will be presented in the 44th meeting of Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) for the approval.
According to the officials of the MCI, with the aforementioned increase in rates, a corporation will generate tens of millions of rupees monthly. After continues ignorance from federal government in terms of Budget and funds, the administration of MCI decided to reduce its fiscal deficit and increase its revenue through increase in the charges, taxes and fees for different services they are providing to manage the city.
In this regard, the Municipal Administration Directorate (DMA) of the corporation has also prepared a summary of the increase in rate list of Weekly Bazaars, Open spaces and other commercial licences and said summary will be presented and discussed in today’s 44th meeting of the corporation for its final approval.
According to the summary prepared by the DMA, the trade licensing category is divided into Category ‘A’ and ‘B’. The rate of centrally Air conditioned Hotels will be increase from 25 thousand rupees to Rs 1 lac monthly, rate of hotels who have a Window AC will be increased from 12 thousand to 50 thousand rupees, hotels without AC, Restaurants and Fast Foods will be increased from 5 thousand to 10 thousand rupees after the suggested increase of 300 % in Category ‘A’.
There will be no increase in the rate of licences of the Departmental, Super and General stores who are falling in the both categories A & B according to the summary whereas there will be no increase on Class A and B of dry cleaning licences who are falling in Category B. The general hawkers’ licence has been increased from 2 thousand to 10 thousand monthly, the milkman from 3 thousand to 10 thousand, the printing press from 15 thousand to 30 thousand monthly, flower shop from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 10,000, Dhaba’s from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 10,000 per month, postal token fee increased by one thousand to Rs. 5,000, beauty parlour from Rs. 1,000 to 5000 per month, A Class Haircutting from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 30,000, Class B Haircutting from Rs 5000 to 15000 per month, medical store from 10,000 to 30,0000 is suggested in the category B.
According to the summary, the temporary open spaces of the city are divided into 3 categories; Sector E, F, G, Blue Area and Diplomatic Enclave falls in category A, Sector I falls in category B whereas all restaurants coming in the jurisdiction of the Corporation are included in the category C where as it is proposed to increase the existing rate of Rs. 143 per square foot monthly to Rs. 500 per square foot of category A,Rs. 400 per month of category B and Rs. 300 per month of category C.
It is also suggested to increase the existing rate of sheds temporarily installed in open spaces from Rs 450 per square foot monthly to Rs. 1000 for Category A, 700 for Category B while Rs. 600 per square foot monthly for Category C. Private parking rate from Rs. 143 per square foot to Rs. 300 per square foot for category A, Rs. 260 per square foot for category B and Rs. 250 per square foot monthly whereas Rs. 50 per square foot increase is suggested in all categories of existing rate of Rs. 15 per square foot monthly regarding Public Parking.
For the temporary sites offices of under construction buildings, Rs. 500 per square foot increase is suggested for all three categories in the default rate of Rs. 143 per square month. Rs. 300 per square foot for all three categories increase suggested against the existing rate of Rs. 143 per square foot of under-construction storerooms. It is suggested to increase Rs. 300 per square foot for all categories in existing rate of Rs 143 per square foot regarding Children’s swings and related stuff. It is proposed to increase the default rate of Rs. 10 per square foot to Rs. 100 per square foot monthly for all categories of northern pipelines of the gas stations.
According to the summary available with Daily Times 250 % increase in the default rates of Weekly Bazaars is also suggested.
