Tribal leaders have rejected the merging of the ex-tribal agencies and said a case against the merging had been accepted in the Supreme Court for hearing.
In this connection, a grand jirga of the elites under the banner of Qabail Tahafuz Movement(QTM) held in the organisation’s main office, Shahkas, Jamrud in which tribal elders from the entire merged tribal belt participated.
Addressing on the occasion, QTM Central President Sardar Asghar Afridi, Malik Waris Afridi, Malik Naib, Malik Akbar and others said that the merging case had become disputed as the case was accepted for hearing in the Supreme Court and therefore the provincial had no authority to interfere in the merged tribal districts. “Infrastructure in the merged districts has completely destroyed and the promised of provision of hundred billion rupees annually made by the government a year ago has proved a false pledge,” they added and saying the tribal people needed potable water, electricity, school, colleges and other mega projects to be part of mainstream. SThey maintained that Sikh community of India were facilitated at Kartarpur border while extra restrictions had been imposed on Pak-Afghan sharing border, Torkham and left thousands of locals jobless that was injustice to them.
They warned that if their right was denied they would approach to International Court.
A representative jirga of all tribal was formed to conduct the Qabail Tahafuz Movement.
