The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Sunday discarded as many as 28,700kg unwholesome food after removing stock from the market of all those companies whose samples had failed in the sampling campaign. All confiscated material was discarded as per eco-friendly policy to prevent the environmental pollution after bringing at dumping site. This was informed by PFA Director General Captain (R) Muhammad Usman while monitoring the dumping process at the site. He said that the Punjab Food Authority always gives importance to the element of environmental protection at the time of discard unwholesome and adulterated food products. He said that the authority has discarded 17,300kg spices of failed brands and 11,400kg sauces and ketchup also. He said that all stock was seized by PFA’s food safety teams after removing from the market as per standard operating procedures. He said that PFA would not allow anyone to sale the below standard food in the market, while crackdown would continue against adulteration mafia under the zero-tolerance policy. Muhammad Usman further said that the utmost priority of PFA is to ensure the provision of wholesome and quality food for people at their doorstep.
