Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s reservations against his medical treatment at a local hospital were said out loud by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President, Shehbaz Sharif, on Monday.
Shehbaz raised these concerns after calling on his brother at Jinnah Hospital in Lahore for 48 minutes on Saturday, where the Sharif brothers also discussed party matters in great detail.
Shehbaz discussed Nawaz’s medical condition with the hospital’s medical board and was also briefed on his test reports.
“Nawaz is not being looked after properly,” Shehbaz claimed.
Meanwhile, Jinnah Hospital Principal Arif Tajammul said, “Nawaz will remain in the hospital till further orders from the prison administration. On February 16, Nawaz’s reports have been sent and today a final report will be made.”
The former prime minister has been sent to a medical facility, twice in February alone. He was first shifted to Services Hospital on February 2 on the recommendation of a special medical board. However, only three days later, Nawaz refused to stay admitted any longer; insisting on going back to prison. He was taken to Kot Lakhpat prison on February 7 after five days.
To ensure a safe stay for former premier, security arrangements have been beefed up inside and around Jinnah Hospital in Lahore and at least 27 areas in the vicinity have been declared highly sensitive.
Security in the provincial capital already remains on a high alert to thwart any untoward incident.
