The Standing Committee on Defence Production in a meeting held on Monday in the Parliament House unanimously elected Member of National Assembly (MNA) Chaudhry Iftekhar Nazir as its chairman.
The NA Secretariat’s special secretary welcomed the members and briefed about the procedure for election of the chairman. MNA Rahat Amanullah Bhatti proposed the name of Iftekhar Nazir as chairman of the committee while MNA Imran Khattak seconded his candidature. Accordingly, Nazir was unanimously elected as chairman of the Standing Committee on Defense Production. The special secretary congratulated the newly elected chairman on behalf of speaker, secretary NA and assured him of full support from the secretariat for effective and efficient functioning of the committee.
The chairman expressed his gratitude to the members for posing confidence in him and assured them to run the business of the committee with consensus. The members while appreciating views of the chairman assured him of their fullest support in the process of legislation. The meeting was attended by MNAs Prince Muhammad Nawaz Allai, Imran Khattak, Rahat Amanullah Bhatti, Niaz Ahmed Jakhar, Sajida Begum, Saira Bano, Chaudhry Abid Raza, Chaudhry Mehmood Bashir Virk, Nazir, Irfan Ali Leghari and Afreen Khan besides the senior officers of the National Assembly Secretariat.
