A poor family from Charsadda area of Khyber Pakhtun Khwa demands justice from Prime Minister Imran Khan against an influential land grabber ex-Commandant Frontier constabulary (FC) Liaqat Khan who illegally grabbed their 300 Kanal land. Meanwhile, the KP police was harassing the victims’ families on daily basis. The victim families during a presser at National Press Club Islamabad told at Tuesday.
Tahira, a school teacher, while addressing the press conference told that after the agriculture amendments (Zari Islahat) in 1973, government transferred the said land to these families but the influential land grabber Liaqat Khan illegally grabbed their land and using KP Police threatened them to step back from the stance.
“Whenever we visit police station, the DPO and SHO abused us and did not follow legal procedure against the powerful land grabber,” Tahira added with a frail voice.
55-year old victim threatens suicide in front of Supreme Court
She added that the honorable court in a recent verdict mentioned that these families are legally free to use this land for cultivation of crops. A copy of the court verdict regarding permission of cultivation and state transferred land documents is available with Daily Times. But on 7th January this year, when women were busy in farming, the KP policemen tortured women and kids on the spot while maintaining that they will not follow any court decision but the orders of their bosses.
Another victim Sabaz Ali Khan told that they submitted written application to state minister Shehryar Afridi but he had not responded yet. He added that Charsadda police is threatening them by phone as well as visiting their villages to award the land to Liaqat Khan. He added that farming is their sole profession of but KP police was snatching bread from their children’s mouth and ‘that’s why if we did not get justice, we will stage a demo in front of Supreme Court,” said the disgruntled victim.
Another family victim of 55 years old Pagunda told that Islamabad press club was the last option and if justice was not served, “I will commit suicide in front of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.” She added that her two grandsons left education due to the threats of Liaqat Khan.
