Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu said club captain Lionel Messi has changed for the better after becoming the leader at the Camp Nou.
According to Onda Cero, Bartomeu said Messi was ‘very happy’ to be the captain of Barcelona and changed a few things about himself to succeed at the club.
Messi, who was Barcelona‘s second captain last season, was promoted as the first-team skipper after former leader Andres Iniesta left the club after over a decade’s stay. Iniesta played an instrumental role in the club’s unmatched success over the years.
While Messi has changed his mentality quite a lot since becoming the captain, he has also brought about a change in his game too. The little Argentine is more giving than ever now and, although he always preferred team accolades over personal ones, he has just went a step forward in his pursuit of greatness.
There are a number of questions being talked all over the social media. One question, that has been there since forever is whether Messi is worthy of being called the greatest of all time given his Argentina crisis.
But there is another point-of-view that if Messi succeeds in taking Barcelona all the way to the treble this season, or as a captain, he would sure be the greatest of all time, which for many, he already is.
The good thing is, Messi is yet to lose, or draw for that matter, a game as Barcelona’s new captain this season.
