LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau on Saturday arrested Fawad Hasan Fawad quickly after raiding his residence at Lahore as per involvement in Ashiana Housing Scam.
On July 5 ,Hasan, who is a senior bureaucrat, a former principal secretary and friend of the recently convicted ex-Prime Minister,Nawaz Sharif, was arrested due to corruption allegations.On Friday, accountability court decided that he be given into the custody of anti-corruption body for fourteen days on physical remand.
As per information of our sources, important record including two laptops, five mobile phones, and 30 USBs were recovered by the authorities from fawad’s house. Shortly, gadgets were sent to the forensic lab for data recovery.
As per NAB’s account, Fawad was involved in many types of wrongdoings like: nepotism, illicitly awarding the Ashiana-e-Iqbal Housing Scheme’s contract to ‘favorites’, illegal shifting of nine CNG stations, possessions beyond declared sources of income, and working with private banks without permission. While being the provincial health secretary, Fawad also held the office of provincial health secretary, during that time he acquired six mobile health units which were purchased at a higher-than-market rate.
According to NAB officials, ‘Chaudhry Latif and Sons’ won the contract for the housing scheme. While Lahore Casa Developers — a proxy group of Paragon City (Pvt) Limited, was given the contract worth Rs14 billion by then CM Shehbaz Sharif. At that time Fawad was working as an implementation secretary to Shehbaz Sharif, plumbed charges of wrongdoings against Chaudhry Latif and Sons so that Casa Developers be given the contract.
