LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Tuesday seized at least 25,000 litres adulterated milk in Lahore.
According to the Director General PFA, Noor-ul-Amin Mengal, vehicles passing through the entry points of different cities were checked during the operations.
Special teams checked 386 vehicles entering the city and confiscated 8,190 litres of milk, said Mengal. Moreover, the teams wasted 4,772 litres of milk in Faisalabad, 5,890 litres in Gujranwala and 2,870 litres in Multan.
“Chemicals and vegetable fat are mixed into the milk to make it thick,” pointed out Mengal. “We are working on imposing stricter restrictions on sale of open milk.”
Mengal advised Pasteurised milk should be sealed in bottles and then sold, adding that this will help prevent adulteration of milk.
